Anita maravillas is a puppet company founded in 2005 in Barcelona at the Pepe Otal's atelier. At the very beginning the company was started by the the great puppeteer Miren Larrea (Amorebieta, Basc Country) and the actress and puppetry researcher Valentina Raposo (Santiago, Chile). Afterwards the light technician and coach Iam Agorria (Elorrio) and the artist and comic actress Mireia Nogueras (Barcelona)joined them. The company is used to collaborate with the excellent illustrator Eider Eibar who's drawings, full of poetry and beauty, inspired them in the creation of many characters and stories.
Anita Maravillas investigates the language of the puppet stage and its relationship with the manipulator, using resources such as meta-fiction to talk about the theater within the theater and the hidden stories of the characters who explain the main script. The company currently has three shows and a new creation project. “Los Sueños de Leonor” for adult audiences, “Sarean Sun Sun” for family audiences and “Blue Bird” for all audiences.
The atelier is also an important aspect of the company. There, the crew builds, manufactures, designs, dresses and characterizes each and every one of the puppets and characters in his works. Any style or genre is reviewed by these talented artists and artisans. The company assists in advising artistically and made puppets for prestigious companies.
